"At MAC, we insist on everyone being treated with fairness and respect. We know that we can only be strong if we work together, only together can we achieve great things. We also know that there are many people less fortunate than we are, which is why it is important to share our success and make a genuine contribution to society. We have been supporting a number of social and charitable projects for many years, run by organisations in our region but also further afield."
The Flensburg Youth Centre 'Schlachthof' is one of the biggest skater and BMX parks in Europe and run by the non-profit organisation 'Sports Pirates Flensburg' which supports sports and movement based youth work.
The Flensburg Sports Pirates want to offer children and young people a place to go where they can exercise, play sports and let off steam. The concept of the 'Schlachthof' also encompasses working with schools. The latest project is a so-called E-Sports-Container.
We at MAC are supporting the Sports Pirates in fitting out the first E-Sports-Containers. The aim is to help children and young people develop strategies for handling a future shaped by digital media successfully and responsibly.

Refugees are welcome
We support the 'Flüchtlingshilfe Flensburg' in their work aimed at integrating people with a migrant...
The 'Flüchtlingshilfe Flensburg' is a non-profit organisation supporting refugees and migrants in their integration in Flensburg.
The NGO 'Flüchtlingshilfe Flensburg' offers those in need of help all kinds of support and the opportunity to take part in a range of social and leisure activities. Thanks to the dedicated work of its many volunteers, the NGO has become an important fixture in Flensburg.
Their commitment is impressive, but they still need sponsors to keep the project going. Together with two other businesses in the region, MAC has provided the necessary finance to keep the NGO running for a whole year. We also support them with our technical know-how and have set up Google Grants for them (a Google application which offers NGOs a free monthly ad word volume of US$10,000).

Technology Centre Flensburg
CampMontag Flensburg wants to create a better network for the people in the Flensburg region...
The CampMontag (CampMonday) Flensburg concept was developed during the first Flensburg Barcamp and now takes place every first Monday of the month.
Our goal: we want to network the people in the Flensburg region more effectively with each other. Unlike at the Barcamp, topics can be submitted in advance for discussion in the CampMontag forum.
We at MAC were persuaded immediately by the CampMontag concept and were part of building this network right from day one, bringing together people from the Flensburg region to share ideas and work together.

We appreciate the untiring commitment of the many volunteers who organize the holiday camps and defend the rights and interests of socially disadvantaged children and adolescents.

Björn Steiger Foundation
We at MAC have been committed to this project for many years and will continue to support the efforts to make 'Felix'...
The Björn-Steiger-Foundation was founded in 1969 and was a leading influence in developing ambulance care in Germany. Milestones include the building up the emergency call network, the introduction of a general rescue service in Germany and the national emergency call numbers 110/112, which can be called free of charge from any telephone at any time. A special project was the creation of a fleet of ambulances specialised in helping babies - the 'Felix' ambulance.
'Felix' is specially designed to cater for transporting babies, fitted with the latest medical and transport technology. Especially for premature babies, jarring must be kept to an absolute minimum to avoid subsequent problems. The new active suspension installed in the 'Felix' ambulances, alongside a mobile incubator and a concussion-free, pneumatic loading system, help to achieve a calm journey for the very young.
We at MAC have been committed to this project for many years and will continue to support the efforts to make 'Felix' ambulances available to all who need them.

Charitable event by Cancer Society
As sponsor of the 'Run into Life' we want to raise awarness of cancer and bring it to public attention...
The 'Run into Life' is a charitable event organised by the Cancer Society in Schleswig-Holstein (Schleswig-Holsteinische Krebsgesellschaft e.V.), to help cancer patients and their families cope with the disease through demonstrating solidarity and improving regionally available information, advice, support and consultations for those affected by cancer.
The idea behind the event is that teams from all walks of life - business, sports, politics, schools, public services and private groups - come together and run for 24 hours for the cause. The point is not how many rounds they can manage, or fast they can run, but doing this together to show solidarity.
We want to help raise awareness of cancer and bring it to public attention as an important issue. For us, this includes donations but also taking part actively in the event.

The ultimative adventure rally
An extreme car rally for adventurers seeking new and bigger challenges...
The Baltic Sea Circle is the ultimate road trip for adventurers and the northern-most rally in the world.
A rally of extremes: 10 countries, 7,500 km, and many tasks and challenges to be mastered during the tour. On June 1st, 2018, the rally team 'MS Red' will be one of 254 Hamburg teams taking part in this event, with us as one of the team sponsors.
We at MAC like the unusual, so we were more than happy to sponsor one of our employees as a team member of 'MS Red', to give her the chance to take part in this unique adventure rally.

Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe e.V.
We work with the Flensburg Food bank to help those who are socially disadvantaged and have fallen on hard times...
The Flensburg Food bank, part of the Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe e.V., is a charity collecting food donated by companies and distributing it to those in need.
The work of the Food Bank relies on donations (money, food, clothing and other items) and, most importantly, the commitment of its many volunteers without whom the Food Bank could not exist.
We at MAC have been supporting the Flensburg Food Bank with a generous annual donation. The children visiting the Food Bank are especially close to our hearts and we collect small gifts and advent calendars for them every Christmas.

The camp in St. Peter-Ording is aimed at everyone interested in Machine learning, professionally or personally, to create a platform for the exchange of ideas and information across the northern German community.
We at MAC love this format and we're convinced that Machine Learning is one of the most important technology issues of our time.

Bone Marrow Donor Register
In 2014, we have taken part in a large-scale organisational registration with our staff to take responsibility...
The German Bone Marrow Donor Register is a non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing chances of recovery for patients with leukaemia and other blood related conditions through bone marrow donation - all over the world.
Founded in Germany in 1991, the DKMS now has five million donors on its register, making it the biggest stem cell donor register in the world. More than 48,000 patients worldwide got a new lease of life through DKMS donors. Every day, more than 17 people donate stem cells or bone marrow for patients in German or abroad.
We want to take responsibility at MAC and have taken part in a large-scale organisational registration in July 2014. As a member of DKMS' 'Club of 100', we will continue to support them financially and hope that many more volunteers will agree to register as potential donors. Because we can only be strong together.

International Youth Volunteers

The International Youth Volunteers offers an informal gap year of learning and development for young people interested in working for a social or cultural organisation.
We love the idea that young people give their time and effort to help others, so we agreed immediately when A-level student Solveig asked for our support for her Volunteer year at EL RUSC, an organisation working with and caring for disabled people.
EL RUSC was founded in Spain in 1977 by Dr. Joan Pujol and his wife Theresa, with the goal of integrating people with disabilities into the local community. A living area is complemented by an occupational centre, where Solveig works as a volunteer helper with the disabled.

The Non-conference
As sponsor and (co-)organizer, we helped to make the Barcamp in Flensburg...
A barcamp, also called a 'non-conference', is an open event with modern workshops the contents of which are designed by the participants at the outset and then developed further with them throughout the event.
During a barcamp, the participants continuously write the agenda throughout the event. Each participant is called upon to bring their topics to the table, making an active contribution. If there are enough people interested, the proposed session will take place.
We at MAC love meeting people who seek new ideas, and who are passionate about passing on what they have found. As an active participant, organizer and sponsor we were there right at the start, and we are proud to see the impressive network it has grown into.

Faire Trade Coffee

The Berlin start-up Coffee Circle sells fair trade organic coffee and collects donations for development projects in Africa.

During their on-line transaction, the customer can decide which social project his purchase should support.
We at MAC support Coffee Circle because we want to help improve the lives of the coffee farmers and their families, and contribute to making the coffee trade fairer.

Chaos Club Flensburg
The Chaos Club is a place where young people can meet up to tinker and fiddle with technology...
The Chaos Club (Chaostreff) Flensburg e.V. is a non-profit organisation offering a place to come for all tech-crazy geeks in the Flensburg area.
The Chaos Club Flensburg regularly organizes events like the Techcamp at the youth facility Scheersberg, aimed at young people with an interest in technology and a passion for hacking, tinkering, soldering and fiddle. Guided by the mentors at the Club, participants learn how to program computers, create and design websites, use 3D printers to give physical shape to their ideas and much more.
Youth & technology? We think that's an exciting combination! That is why we are always ready to support projects and organisations who have made it their goal to help young people playfully and responsibly to come to grips with new information technology.

The local nursery 'Kiwi' has a very flexible care concept, specially designed to cater for working parents.
Alongside individual care concepts, the nursery offers several additional services like flexible times for drop-off and collection, weekend & holiday opening hours, and much more. The project is supported by donations from local companies who can book one or more places for the children of their employees.
MAC has been supporting this project since it began and has taken on several places. This benefits the children of our staff, but also a young family from Flensburg who know their son to be in good hands while they are both in training for their future careers.
